After years of research, the LED factory Everlight Electronics has developed a special wave band that can effectively promote the bright redness of strawberry fruits, and tested it with the organic strawberry farm in Kansai, Hsinchu, Taiwan. Under the illumination of special lamps, the rate of successful color conversion of perfume strawberries increased. By 30%, it successfully helped strawberry farmers in northern Taiwan to solve the problem of lack of light in winter that caused the fruits to not red.
Strawberry has high economic value and is a very popular fruit in winter. The main production period is from December to April of the following year. The production areas in Taiwan are distributed in Miaoli, Hsinchu, Neihu and other places. However, the area north of Hsinchu often lacks sunlight in winter, causing some varieties of strawberries to turn poorly, and the fruit is not red, which affects the value of the commodity. Strawberries that are not red can only be made into processed products such as jam, and even face the fate of scrap.
Everlight Electronics cooperated with the Zhuqingting Farm, owned by the owner of one of Taiwan’s top 100 young farmers, Xie Jinyuan, to set up a special turning lamp for strawberries developed by Everlight in the greenhouse to fill up the light on cloudy days, and the ratio of perfume strawberry color to red can be increased by 30%. It also increases the anthocyanin concentration in the fruit by 90%, promotes bright red fruit, and reduces the number of poorly colored fruits by more than half.
Everlight Electronics said that traditional strawberry planting only relies on natural light. When the sun is insufficient, strawberries are prone to color conversion problems. The LED light source provided by Everlight can supplement light for the special wavelengths required by the strawberry color conversion period, providing farmers with a more efficient , Intelligent planting methods.
In the future, it can also provide special bands for crops through LED technology for various agricultural, fishery, animal husbandry and other high economic value crops, overcome the dilemma of traditional agriculture, and create a win-win situation for the LED industry and agriculture.
